O-Rings In Aerospace - A Short Review

A short review of o-rings in aerospace applications from the standpoint of the end user is presented. The topics covered include typical elastomers, with their advantages and disadvantages, some of the specifications covering them and typical o-ring test methods. Additionally, the review will cover shortcomings of generic fluid resistance guides based on rubber types, limitations of short-term testing for lifetime prediction, as well as failure analysis of o-rings.
