Biographical Sketch:
Akshay Ashirgade is a doctoral degree candidate in Materials Science & Engineering at the University of Cincinnati. He has a M.S degree in Materials Science & Engineering from the University of Cincinnati. He is working in the field of corrosion, rubber-to-metal bonding, protective organic coatings and adhesion. His PhD work focuses on study of the interfacial layer between rubber and brass in steel belts. He has made several paper and poster presentations in various conferences and has two invention disclosures, one patent and four publications. He was part of a team that won the Collano Innovation Grant appreciation award in 2008. His research interests also include surface characterization, water-based anti-corrosion coatings, interfacial adhesion, imaging & electrochemical testing
