Biographical Sketch:
Isam Janajreh received his Ph.D. (97) and Masters (92, 94) from Virginia Tech in 1997 in Engineering Science and Mechanics (ESM) and Mechanical Engineering (ME), and BS in ME from Jordan University of Science and Technology. His focus was on solid-fluid interactions, turbulence modeling and mixing, and thermomechanical coupling. Hired at Virginia Tech as visiting professor at ESM and Math Departments through 1998. He joined Michelin R&D as a Tire and Automotive Research Engineer in the US analyzing wet tire traction, vehicle dynamics, and rubber material modeling. In 2001 Janajreh expatriated to Michelin France heading European Project " Tire Hydroplaning: Modeling and Analysis". After project completion, he returned in 2004 to the Washington DC to work on fundamental research and academia with NIST in the building and fire lab as a Contractor and as an adjunct ME professor at JHU, UMD and UMBC and at the Crash Analysis Center at GWU. He relocated to join Parametric Solutions Inc. in Florida as Fluid-Solid Interaction Analyst heading challenging US governments sponsored projects including: After Burner combustor with GE and Pratt, Toroid Combustor Analysis with Dyna Energy, 1st turbine stage flow and structure analysis with Belack, Engine Bay thermal flow analysis with ATG aircraft and taught at FAU in the Ocean engineering Department. He joined Masdar in 2007 as visiting ME professor at MIT conducting research on the thermochemical conversion (combustion, pyrolysis, gasification) and recently has moved to Masdar Abu Dhabi continuing his research and teaching fundamentals of combustion and fundamentals of advanced renewable energy conversion. He has authored over 15 refereed publications on fluid dynamics and structure interaction, made more than 30 contributions to international conferences and a key contributor to three Michelin patents (Catamran, Primacy, X-one) and three books (traction, rolling resistance, noise). He is a regular reviewer for several international journals, and has been a member of ASME, TS&T, Rubber Division, ASCE, and other international scientific committees.
