LEVAPREN /LEVAMELT EVM is a copolymer of ethylene and vinyl acetate which can have vinyl acetate levels ranging from 40-90% and is a specialty elastomer used in various industrial applications. EVM has been used for many years in the wire and cable industry, in particular where there is a need for flame retardant non corrosive products (FRNC). The FRNC concept has led to EVM compounds being used in flooring and profiles where safety is needed in public buildings such as subway stations, airports and computer centers. The heat and oil resistance of EVM compounds enables them to be used in seals, gaskets and hoses in the automotive industry and EVM has also found its use in the adhesive industry where it can be utilized in solvent, hot melt and adhesive film applications. This paper will review the application areas of LEVAPREN rubbers and show some data to highlight its use in FRNC and adhesive applications.
